The Anaheim Ducks are now running into a wee bit of injury trouble, stemming from Sunday's game at home against the Capitals. Forward Matt Beleskey left the game with an upper-body injury and defenseman Sami Vatanen left the game with a lower-body injury. Both players reportedly skated on Monday, but on Tuesday, the Ducks announced that they had called up forward Emerson Etem and defenseman Josh Manson, which didn't look good on either injury. Sure enough, later on in the day, the team said that Beleskey is expected to miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with his ailment, while Vatanen will miss the next 4-to-6 weeks with his.
Beleskey was a Week Nine Waiver Draft acquisition for Brenda & Seward and had definitely helped them climb the standings in the middle part of the season, picking up 15 points in 27 games since his activation. Overall, Beleskey has been pretty good, scoring 21 goals and 30 points in 56 games this season, which ranks him 161st overall in pool scoring. Although his goal scoring has been somewhat infrequent, there still is enough in his game for the Ducks to miss him during this next stretch.
And with Vatanen, he has been on Troy's team all season long, logging 12 goals and 34 points in 57 games with the club this season, good enough for 122nd overall in pool scoring, being 4 points better than his injured teammate. Among all blueliners this year, Vatanen has been really good, ranking 13th in scoring from the back end, tops among Anaheim defenders as well. This could prove to be a much bigger loss.
