Afternoon Player Notes in the Playoffs (Jun 9)
If it wasn't bad enough that this Stanley Cup Final hasn't been much of a series, the two or three days between games is a bit hard on the people, anxious to really take full advantage of Summer and not have to worry about not going outside or continue to check their smartphones, looking for scores.
Game 4 was on Monday night, but here we are on Thursday afternoon, waiting for Game 5 and hoping that the Pittsburgh Penguins put us all out of our misery or else we won't see Game 6, in San Jose, until Sunday night.
We already know that Tomas Hertl won't be available for tonight's game, his lower-body injury is seeing to that. Hertl was hurt in Game 2 of the series and the Sharks had already won Game 3 without him. Nevertheless, the Sharks will have to find the back of the net without one of their top scorers in these playoffs.
For the Penguins, they have been using up their maintenance days, but there isn't any expected changes in their lineup.
Martin Jones against Matt Murray in net... here we go!
