This deal has a little bit more promise than a fringe deal, which is why it gets a mention, but with no NHL experience, it's not a big deal... yet.
Ahead of the draft weekend, the Nashville Predators have dealt the rights to the highly touted NCAA forward Jimmy Vesey to the Buffalo Sabres for a 3rd round pick. Vesey, who has been in the Predators system since the 2012 draft, where they took him in the 3rd round, decided against signing with his original NHL club and was looking towards free agency, starting August 15th.
The Sabres, who own a plethora of draft picks in this weekend's entry draft, were willing to take a shot at an early negotiation with the top prospect, trying to lure him into a system, which is already ripe with young talent.
