My 2016 Mock Entry Draft - Final Edition

Now that the Stanley Cup Finals have finally concluded, we can finally put all of our attention on the off-season and the first event of the Summer is the Entry Draft, taking place in Buffalo.

As you may have noticed, I have been posting my mock entry draft, as I've finished up doing my annual Pool Outlook posts for every team and I thought I would do a new post, just to say that they are all done and we don't have to worry about it anymore.

Now, of course, this is the mock draft of what I think these teams are in need of, more than what I think they are going to do.  The Oilers, for example, need a defenseman, but they could just as easy deal this pick to move down and get their defenseman or they could opt for another forward in their coffers and try to move one of their more expensive cap hits for more help in their own end.

Here is the final list, now adding picks for Boston and Toronto, who acquired the picks from the Sharks and Penguins in deals, rounding out the whole mock draft for next week's entry draft.  It is definitely one of the most exciting days, as it really does give you a good glimpse into the future.

Pick NHL Team Player POS
Toronto Auston Matthews F
Winnipeg Patrick Laine F
Columbus Jesse Puljujarvi F
Edmonton Jacob Chychrun D
Vancouver Olli Juolevi D
Calgary Alexander Nylander F
Arizona Matthew Tkachuk F
Buffalo Pierre-Luc Dubois F
Montreal Logan Brown F
Colorado Mikhail Sergachev D
New Jersey Tyson Jost F
Ottawa Michael McLeod F
Carolina Max Jones F
Boston Julien Gauthier F
Minnesota Kiefer Bellows F
Detroit Logan Stanley D
Nashville Jake Bean D
Philadelphia Riley Tufte F
Long Island Clayton Keller F
Arizona (from NYR) Alex DeBrincat F
Carolina (from LOS) Charles McAvoy D
Winnipeg (from CHI) Dante Fabbro D
Florida Luke Kunin F
Anaheim Pascal Laberge F
Dallas Lucas Johansen D
Washington Brett Howden F
Tampa Bay Tage Thompson F
St. Louis Kyle Clague D
Boston (from SAN) Dennis Cholowski D
Toronto (from PIT) Carter Hart G

In the last two picks, I have the Bruins adding a project defenseman in Dennis Cholowski, who has earned some rave reviews about his raw skill and will head to the NCAA circuit to hone those skills, while the Maple Leafs round out my mock draft with the WHL goaltender of the year in Carter Hart.  There hasn't been too many goalies going in the 1st round in recent years, but they can have their pick of the litter with the last of the 1st round picks and Hart has received some good scouting reports.
