The St. Louis Blues re-signed forward Scottie Upshall on Wednesday morning, giving him a new 1-year deal, reportedly worth $900,000.
It has been a couple seasons since Upshall was pool worthy, but he was still able to play in 70 games for the Blues in 2016, posting 14 points. Those aren't quite going to cut it for being picked in the draft, but Upshall will probably continue to hang around, possibly getting a shot around the Waiver Draft.
The signing of Upshall, especially to a very reasonable cap number, is rounding out the St. Louis lineup and giving them a rounded number on how to approach their pending free agents. I currently have them with six open spots on their roster and $14.2 million to play with.
