The Montreal Canadiens announced on Saturday morning that they came to terms with potential restricted free agent Sven Andrighetto, who worked his way into the everyday lineup before the end of the 2016 season. Andrighetto signed a 1-year deal, that we know for sure, but his cap hit was not disclosed immediately.
The 23-year old Swiss forward had 7 goals and 17 points in 44 games, scoring at a better rate than a couple of the Habs' pool worthy forwards in Lars Eller and Dale Weise, which should give him some consideration, at the very least, for a late round sleeper pick in the draft, if we're still 27 teams deep.
Montreal will do well to have Andrighetto under contract in a sub $1 million deal this season, as they are getting up there against the cap already. If he turns into that everyday winger that they want from him, he will be a certain bargain by the end of the year.
