The Los Angeles Kings are being cautious with their number one goalie, Jonathan Quick, who has suffered a lower-body injury this week, but the team is suggesting that the injury isn't too serious. Quick was hurt against the Bruins, late in the 3rd period, when a Bruins player slid into him. He was subsequently held out of practice on Wednesday and will sit out at least tonight's game in Brooklyn, leaving Jhonas Enroth to get the start and call-up Peter Budaj to lie in wait.
Brenda & Seward are going punch for punch with Jeremy at the top of the table this week, both in the overall standings and the weekly scoring ranks. A lost start from Quick, especially against a lesser Islanders team, is a bit of a hit to their team. Very intriguing.
It was a hit to the wallet of Nazem Kadri today, as he was fined $5,000 for his throat-cutting gesture he offered up to Flames defender Mark Giordano on Tuesday night and then coincidentally, he will be scratched for Toronto's game on Thursday night in Edmonton. The Maple Leafs announced that he will miss the game with a lower-body injury and that he's day-to-day. It's a little too coincidental, isn't it?
The Maple Leafs also have placed forward Tyler Bozak on the Injured Reserve, in respect to his upper-body injury, as he isn't currently on the Western Canada road trip either. This is a very lacklustre Leafs lineup, rolling through the West this week.
No matter what you may thing about the Kadri situation, his absence will be a speed bump for Kristy & Don's ascent up the standings, which has seen a few bumps in the last week or two. I don't think Kadri will be out for very long, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Bozak, on the other hand, is one of a few players sitting out this trip and his projected games have been removed from Allan's team.
