Race to the Sin Bin (Feb 24)
There is only four games on the schedule tonight in the NHL and Wes' team will get ample chances to redeem a few of those minutes that Derek & Dan have made up in the early part of this week.
Wes' lead is now down to 7 minutes and his team has yet to pick up a penalty in two nights worth of action this week, but his team should have some of his big guns going, which should help his cause.
His biggest hired gun going tonight is Cody McLeod of the Avalanche, as they play host to the San Jose Sharks. It's hard to say who McLeod may lineup against tonight, but the highest ranking Sharks player taken in the pool is Joe Thornton, who belongs to Stuart and has 44 PIM this year. I don't see that being a key goon match-up. If McLeod can't mix it up with anyone, don't forget about Wes' other entry tonight, Gabriel Landeskog, since he's at 52 PIM in 58 games this year.
With the Bruins hosting the Penguins tonight, this one has some real potential for fireworks, since they are both holding wild card spots and they both want to remain in those spots. Wes' team will feature Zac Rinaldo and Brian's biggest pest, Brad Marchand. Tonight's toughest pool-selected Penguins player... Kris Letang, who belongs to Jeremy, with 52 PIM to his name this year. Mostly hooking, holding and tripping, if I had to guess.
To no surprise, Wes holds the most penalized Anaheim Ducks player in the pool tonight, Ryan Kesler, as they are playing host to the Buffalo Sabres tonight. This is the match-up that Derek & Dan are looking forward to, since Evander Kane will represent them, as their biggest muscle tonight.
The earliest game tonight, Montreal and Washington, plays as the PIM pool's undercard, a game that Wes doesn't have a goon in. The big match-up tonight will go between John R. and Dale B., as Tom Wilson of the Capitals and P.K. Subban are the most notable pool players in this one.
