On Monday, there was a report that suggested that Islanders forward Mikhail Grabovski may not be good to go tonight, as the team visits the Wild in Minnesota. There wasn't very much info on the injury, other than it was upper-body and that he wasn't expected to play, so that's how it will be left for now. He'll be considered day-to-day, until the team otherwise specifies.
For Derek W., his team has been struggling over the last seven weeks, dropping down from 8th place to 15th in that period. Derek decided to pick up Grabovski at the last Waiver Draft, but hasn't seen much production from him yet, only 1 point in six games.
This Springtime illness is really making the rounds already, as Washington Capitals forward Marcus Johansson had to sit out another game on Monday night, thanks to being under the weather. Johansson has missed a bit of time to various reasons already this year, but has still put up some pretty good numbers this year. I would think that Johansson would be back before too long.
With 34 points in 50 games, Johansson has been very productive for Brenda & Seward, who lost a little bit more ground to Jeremy on Monday night and are now 9 points back of the lead. His return would likely be celebrated.
How about some positive news to finish? The Detroit Red Wings have activated Niklas Kronwall from the Injured Reserve on Tuesday, just ahead of their game against Columbus at home, so we'll expect to see him back in the lineup for the first time since the middle of January. Jakub Kindl was sent back down to the AHL in response to the activation, which gives Kronwall his spot back and we'll see how well his knee responds to his first game back on the ice.
Brian could use all the help he can get these days, as his team has fallen off the pace a little bit as well. Going into Tuesday night's action, Brian is 28 points back of 3rd place, but it seems like an extreme improbable situation that Kronwall makes up those points on his own. At this point though, anything helps.
