Pavelec Back, Hellebuyck Down

The return of the number one is now upon us in Winnipeg, as Ondrej Pavelec has been activated from the Injured Reserve on Friday and may have a tough test for his first start back, Saturday night in Edmonton.  The Winnipeg starter has been out since the middle of November with a severe knee sprain and his recovery took an extended period of time.

To make room for Pavelec, Connor Hellebuyck has been assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, where he'll resume his duties as the number one goalie in the minors.  Hellebuyck posted 13 wins and 30 points in his time up with the big club and has likely earned the confidence of the coaching staff, which is why Pavelec's name has been thrown around in the trade rumour department.

In the pool, this is good news for Stuart, who has been sitting on Pavelec throughout his injury and still sits in pouncing position, only 16 points out of the money.  Allan, on the other hand, gets the raw end of the deal, but has capitalized on Hellebuyck's presence, winning the goalie survivor pool this year.  Allan's team is currently 13th overall, 34 points out of the money.
