Anaheim Ducks forward Chris Stewart did not return to Thursday night's game against Columbus after a fight with Blue Jackets defenseman Dalton Prout, as the team cited an upper-body injury for his absence. As of early Friday morning, there was no mention of what the injury was or how long he'll be out or if he is going to be out at all. We'll just wait and see, I suppose. If it is anything too serious, we'll have an update on the blog, but otherwise, he'll be on the list as out day-to-day.
Much to Ryan's relief, Stewart is far from being a rookie or being involved in the rookie pool, so his 54-point lead remains safe and sound. Nevertheless, Ryan is still only 18 points out of 3rd place, so there is still a real shot at more money and if Stewart is hurt for any length of time, it may only be the rookie money he takes home.
The Flames and the Sharks were engaged in a see-saw battle on Thursday night, one that saw the score rock back and forth in the shark tank. I would imagine that the Sharks were finally smelling blood in the water, when a collision knocked out Flames goalie Karri Ramo with only three minutes left in regulation, but Jonas Hiller did a job to keep the Flames in it and win it in the shootout. The early suggestion is that the lower-body injury isn't good and we should all expect the Flames to call up one of their AHL goalies before too long.
It hasn't been a great week to be a goalie for Brenda & Seward, as they have now both been hurt this week, but it sounds like Ramo's injury is far worse than what Jonathan Quick is dealing with. With all of that being said, they don't have the lead anymore and now they don't have a goalie healthy, so they'll be clinging for their money-winning lives to that 29-point lead over 3rd place.
