Reported on Tuesday afternoon, it is expected that Montreal forward David Desharnais will be out of the lineup for Wednesday night's game in Colorado, as he is dealing with a lower-body injury after he blocked his teammate's shot in the game on Monday night in Arizona. There is no indication of the severity of the injury yet, just that he won't play Wednesday, so for now, he'll be considered day-to-day.
More bad news for Benson, as he tries to climb up to meet and/or pass John S. in the standings, who loses a 26-point player to this point in the season. Desharnais is just a shade less than half a point-per-game this year, but the confidence struggles of the Habs have much to do with that.
Some good news, heading into Wednesday night's action, as the New York Rangers announced that they will be welcoming back their captain with the Blackhawks in town. Ryan McDonagh has passed all of his tests for the concussion protocol and it has been over a week that he's been out of action, so the green lights are flashing.
Derek W. gets a little bit more help on his blueline, as he eyes up the top 10 in the standings again. Heading into Wednesday's action, his team sits in 13th, 13 points out of 10th. It has been nearly six weeks since his team finished in the top 10, when it finished Week Fourteen in 8th place, its peak position of the year.
