Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Feb 10)

Being a bottom six player in Boston, they do seem to have a semi-regular rotation in and out of the lineup, depending on their recent successes and who their opponent may be and you could argue, they may have needed a guy like Zac Rinaldo, as he missed out on a blowout loss to the Kings on Tuesday night.  No word on whether or not he'll dress for the next game, Thursday night in Winnipeg.

Rinaldo is one of the recent additions to Wes' goon squad, employed to help secure him the title of Chief Goon Coordinator in the hockey pool this season.  His team dropped a huge portion of his lead last night and we'll likely touch on that more later on today.

Boys will be boys, right?  Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan were two of three Calgary Flames players that were disciplined for showing up late to Monday morning's practice, as the story goes, so they were scratched from Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs, a game that they pulled out of the fire, 4-3.  I would imagine that they'll fit right back into the lineup, as they head down to San Jose to take on the Sharks.

One game missed for Brian and Grant, respectively... not much more to say about it.

Sounds like a bout of the flu has caught up with Chicago Blackhawks super-rookie, Artemi Panarin, and he had to sit out Tuesday night's shutout loss to the San Jose Sharks, suggesting that they were missing his offense for the game.  The Blackhawks don't play again until Saturday, home to the Ducks, to which I would assume is enough time for Panarin to flush out the bug and be ready to go again.  He's day-to-day.

Ryan's rookies have still managed to put up 2 points through two days this week, keeping that lead in the rookie pool safe.

There is a lot of buzz about Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz heading up to the press box as a scratch for the second time in five games, missing Tuesday night's game against the Devils.  The coaching staff is maintaining that there is some of the game that he could learn from watching up in the press box, but the running theory is that he is being held out to keep his trade value, as teams are warming up to the possibility of making a move for him.  We'll see in the coming days.

If Schultz was to move, I am sure that would be celebrated by Stacey C., who would definitely prefer to have one of his defenders playing on a team that wants him on the ice, trying to realize his potential.  This season, he only has 9 points in 39 games for the Oilers.

The Vancouver Canucks were starting to turn a corner in the health department, with bodies coming back off the Injured Reserve, but it looks like it is going back down the toilet again, as both Brandon Sutter and Alexander Edler are both heading home early, as they were both hurt on Tuesday night in Colorado, suffering a jaw and foot injury, respectively.  Both are likely to miss some significant time, but that won't likely be announced until after the team doctors have a look at him and both will miss Wednesday night's game in Arizona.

Sutter was just activated for Troy this week from the Waiver Draft, while Dale B. has been hanging on to Edler all year.  Troy's team was hoping that Sutter would give a boost to his side, which has fallen down a bit of late, while Dale's team may have fallen too far for Edler to help, but this injury may cost him even more points.
