Komarov Sits For a Chicken Wing

On Friday afternoon, the NHL Department of Player Safety came down hard on Toronto forward Leo Komarov, handing him a 3-game ban for his chicken wing elbow to the head of Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh on Thursday night.  The blatant extension of his elbow to meet the defender's head cost the 29-year old Russian a few nights off and rightly so.

The three games that Komarov will miss begin tonight, as the Leafs host the Flyers and then he'll miss games on Tuesday and Thursday, which are against the Predators and Hurricanes, respectively.  His eventual return will be next Saturday, away to the Montreal Canadiens.

After Friday night's action, Komarov is ranked 119th in overall pool scoring, picking up 18 goals and 35 points in 56 games for the Leafs, having a pretty good year on a very mediocre/poor team.

In the pool, Troy was able to snag him in the 1st round of the Week Nine Waiver Draft and has done well with that pick.  Since the Waiver Draft, Komarov ranks 8th among players taken and 5th in improvement, compared to who he was dropped for.  Unfortunately for Troy, his team has crumbled around Komarov and has fallen from 6th to 15th in the last five weeks.
