Well, after a statistic audit, where there were a few scoring changes that needed to be updated, we now have figures that are ready to be announced heading into the Conference Finals. Surprisingly, there were actually quite a few scoring changes to be made in the final eight teams, so if you've looked and thought it looked quite a bit different... you're right. Blame the NHL, I say.
So after it's all said and done, Dale now holds a 4-point lead going into the Conference Finals over John P.. John holds a 2-point lead over Benson, Don M. and Liam, who are all tied for third, but Benson comes away with the position, thanks to the tie-breakers. Only 3 points separates third place from 11th, which keeps it all nice & tight heading into the next series.
Only 1 team managed to make the correct predictions to allow themselves to have the maximum amount of players heading into the Conference Finals, which is 12. Angela sits in 8th pace, 8 points out of first and 2 out of third and will have an excellent shot at finishing in the money with all her players. If Dallas and Philadelphia manage to squeeze through to the Finals, she should be the only team with 6 players.
After the statistic audit, Marc-Andre Fleury (Box 24) remains as the points leader in the pool with 20 points. Our leader, Dale, has Fleury and is riding the Penguins through to the Conference Finals. Fleury may not be a likely candidate for the Conn Smythe Trophy exactly, but if he keeps up his winning pace, he could very well be the Playoff Pool MVP. He would join Ray Emery (from 2007) and Cam Ward (from 2006) as the best players in the previous Playoff Pool MVPs.
The Conference Finals starts up again on Thursday, when the Western Conference Final gets underway in Detroit. On Friday, the Penguins will host the Flyers to start the Eastern Conference Final. In Canada, TSN will cover the Western Conference Finals, while CBC will cover the East. Just in case you were looking for the listings.
