I was going to have the Sharks behind the 8-ball yesterday, but thankfully they won last night, so I could post it this morning and not go straight to the elimination animation. Phew!
Yes, the Sharks are still behind the 8-ball, despite winning last night. It was only their first win of the series and now they'll go back to the Shark Tank in San Jose to try and capture another and live for another day.
A 2-1 win for the Sharks was just the hard fought sort of game San Jose needed to play to get themselves back in the fighting mood. For the first three games, there really wasn't that sort of intensity from the club and the sweep was looking somewhat inevitable. But thanks to a Milan Michalek (Box 2) power play goal early in the third period, the Sharks can swim home and prepare for another tough game on the brink of elimination.
Both Michalek and Evgeni Nabokov (Box 12) were the big point getters in the game with two. I don't think you could expect too much more out of a 2-1 game, but that was all anyone was going to get.
Game 5 will shift to San Jose on Friday night. It's the only game on the schedule on Friday and it starts at 8pm MT.
