Give a lot of credit to the Stars who didn't roll over and die for the series sweep. Two big third period goals lifted the Stars past the Red Wings in a 3-1 victory and now they have sent the series back to Detroit for Game 5 on Saturday.
Former captain, Mike Modano (Box 5), scored the eventual winner on the power play in the third period off of a good passing play. It was Modano's third game-winner of the playoffs and that had padded his totals as the top scoring player in Box 5. Modano now has 15 points in the playoffs, a clear 9 better than second place in the box and 13 better than his series rival. For the Stars to be successful in Detroit, Modano will have to raise his game an extra little bit and bring his teammates with him.
Also picking up multi-point games for the Stars were Marty Turco (Box 12), registering his 9th win of the playoffs, and Sergei Zubov (Box 8), who picked up a pair of assists in the game. For Turco, he gets the luxury of leading the 12th box on the playoff sheet, since there is no Detroit starter at the moment. He leads with 21 points in these playoffs. Zubov didn't join the team until the San Jose series and he now has 6 points in these playoffs, only 4 points behind his Detroit counterpart.
With the series going one more game, points will now be available for all those teams that have Stars in their line-up and some more jumps can be made.
