The Stars may have had a hangover from their long marathon game against San Jose, but there was next to no excuse for Game 2. Now, the Red Wings are here to show the playoffs what they are really made of and it ended up being a 2-1 win, to take a 2-0 series lead over their Pacific Division rivals.
Leading the charge for the Red Wings was Henrik Zetterberg (Box 1), who was chosen for the first box, like the leader he is. Zetterberg scored his third game-winning goal to earn the bonus point and be the only pool-active player to earn two points in the game. Zetterberg leads the first box in the pool now with 18 points, 3 better than his Stars rival in these playoffs.
The Red Wings depth has been one of their better qualities in these playoffs. Johan Franzen (non-pool) has been one of their better players, but he missed Game 2 and will likely miss Game 3, possibly Game 4, due to some concussion symptoms he may have suffered in the series against Colorado. Franzen, if he was in the pool, would be leading the pool scoring for the Red Wings, by 2 over Zetterberg.
Game 3 will go tonight in Dallas. The Stars will have their opportunity to show off some of their home ice advantage, while the Red Wings, who are 3-2 on the road in these playoffs, should give them a good run.
