Another good day for the restricted free agents continues with the Colorado Avalanche re-signing forward Peter Mueller to a new 2-year deal, reportedly worth $4 million. That will work out to a solid sum of $2 million per season against the cap, something that should reflect well on the books for the Avalanche.
Mueller was acquired by the Avalanche in a trade deadline deal with the Phoenix Coyotes and then enjoyed some scoring successes with his new team. Mueller finished the year with 13 goals and 24 assists in 67 games between the two clubs, while 9 goals and 11 assists came in the final 15 games with the Avalanche, so there is some real scoring potential for Mueller in Denver.
Looking at all the publications for their projections, the Hockey News has him at 50 points, Forecaster has him at 66 points, the Pooler's Guide says 52 points and Dobber's crew has him at 58 points. The experts seem to have him making some real noise and being more of a veteran to many of the other kids on the team, he'll have to put up those kind of numbers if the Avalanche want to be there at the end of the year.
