It's a bad start to training camp for the Bruins, as their number one centre, Marc Savard, has now been diagnosed with symptoms of post-concussion syndrome and it will keep him out of camp and the line-up for an indefinite period of time. Savard reportedly had been nursing these symptoms and unable to workout for the past few weeks and now he and the team will have to proceed with caution, in terms of getting himself back into game shape.
Savard has been dealing with concussion issues since the bit hit in March by Matt Cooke and has been having troubles being the same again. Granted, Savard had injury problems all year, but it will be the concussion that will linger on for a while. Savard was able to come back in the Spring and play in the playoffs, but obviously his Summer was not very good and he will be on the shelf.
I'll admit, I was kind of expecting a good comeback year for Savard, maybe not as huge of a projection as some of the publications have him out to get, but I had him coming back with a vengeance. Now that the dreaded concussion word has been dropped and its a recurrence of the matter, I will not ever be picking Marc Savard in my pool again. This is a very severe case of being injury prone.
