Two Down, Two to Go for Detroit

The Detroit Red Wings refuse to go away in their series against the San Jose Sharks, as they have also forced a Game Six on Sunday night, beating the Sharks 4-3 in their own barn.  Not only did the Red Wings win in Game Five, they did it in some kind of fashion, as they opened the 3rd period down 2-1, gave up an early goal to go down 3-1 and then stormed back in the 3rd period to eventually win it and send this series back to the Joe on Tuesday night.

The clutch performer on the ice for the Red Wings was Pavel Datsyuk, who had an amazing game while dealing with soreness in one of his wrists.  Datsyuk was instrumental in the team's comeback tonight, as he picked up three assists, including a helper on the winning goal.  Niklas Kronwall had a goal and an assist, Tomas Holmstrom scored the winner and Jimmy Howard made 39 saves for the win, all picking up 2 points in the win.

Things did not sound good for Box 3 forward Johan Franzen, as he was listed as a game-time decision going into Sunday night's game, did dress and play, but only got in 14 shifts, dealing with a tender/sprained ankle. Franzen didn't play a shift after the 13-minute mark of the 2nd period and will likely be doubtful for Game Six, I would imagine.  Franzen was taken 12 times in the pool this year.

Game Six will go on Tuesday night, 6pm MT puck drop on TSN.
