With news that the Flyers might be drawing closer to a return of Vincent Lecavalier, they received news that defenseman Andrew MacDonald will miss the next four weeks with a lower-body injury. MacDonald will be joined by non-pool defenseman Braydon Coburn, who is also out for the same period of time, with the same type of injury.
There was no indication about where and when MacDonald suffered his injury, but the team announced on Friday morning that he'll miss the next month with it, regardless.
Philadelphia next hosts the Red Wings on Saturday night, there has been no immediate update on who will replace both MacDonald and Coburn in their line-up yet.
MacDonald has played in all seven games for the Flyers to this point, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists, which currently has him in a tie for 219th overall in pool scoring, 37th among all defensemen. He wasn't off to a blinding start, but he was a pretty good piece of the Flyers offense.
This now takes another body out of Dale B.'s current line-up, which is also dealing without Columbus forward Brandon Dubinsky for the time being as well. Dale's team is managing just fine, currently sitting in 4th place, 2 points back of 3rd and 19 back of 1st. The loss of the body now gives him the least amount of projected games in the rest of the week, with only 15 to be played.
