Jackets and Johansen Agree Finally

The tweet came down from the Blue Jackets themselves on Monday morning... Ryan Johansen and the club have agreed on a 3-year deal, which will bring the budding superstar into camp, with only a couple days to go until puck drop on the regular season.

The Summer holdout was battling publicly with the club on terms of a new deal, which was very money-centric, but with only days to go, The reported value for the cap hit per season is $4 million, which will work out to a $12 million deal, all told.

Johansen was a 5th round pick in the draft for Grant S., who was betting on his contract getting done before too long after the draft was done.  At this point, even with needing a few days worth of practice and the Jackets starting their regular season on Thursday night in Buffalo, he should be able to draw in and try to shake off the rust in game action.

In my projections, I have Johansen coming in at 70 points, which was still a pretty popular number for the 5th round in the draft.  Marian Hossa and Patric Hornqvist were also in that range, while Brian Elliott was taken in the 5th and he was projected at around 85 points, being the St. Louis number one.

Last season, Johansen finished 33rd among all forwards, 49th overall, with 33 goals and 63 points in all 82 games for Columbus.
