As expected on Monday, David Krejci was taken of the Injured Reserve and re-inserted back into the Boston Bruins line-up, in time for their home game against the Colorado Avalanche. Krejci had been out since training camp with an undisclosed injury, suffered in a preseason game, wasn't healthy enough to go in Week One, placed on IR, but came off to start Week Two. Unfortunately for the Bruins, Krejci's return wasn't enough to spark up any offense, as Boston lost the game, 2-1.
Benson was awfully close to the basement in Week One and without any offense from the Bruins, he could be close to it again. He's currently sitting in 22nd (of 23), only 4 points up on last place and 3 points back of 21st.
The Ottawa Senators are still mucking about with their line-up these days, despite putting up a win or two to start the season. On Monday night in Florida, the blueline shuffle started up again, as Patrick Wiercioch made his season debut for the Sens, as Jared Cowen came out as a healthy scratch. The Wiercioch-Cowen issue has been a contentious one in Ottawa, as the team believes Cowen is more of a cornerstone type defenseman, while Wiercioch has put up some better numbers offensively, but it really means something, when they won't dress at the same time.
Wiercioch was the 14th round pick for Dale C. in the draft this year, while no one took Cowen. If the draft says anything about this situation, it's standing behind the numbers guy, instead of the guy who is relying on potential to stay in the line-up.
Rumours are abound that Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins may not be good to go on Tuesday night, as Edmonton goes into Los Angeles tonight to take on the Kings. There is no official word from the team, as early on Tuesday morning, but the Oilers did send defenseman Oscar Klefbom down to the AHL and recalled Bogdan Yakimov, suggesting that they may need another forward for game-time against LA. I have RNH listed as doubtful at the moment, but this could change before game time.
It's an injury concern for Mike, who sits in 17th after Monday, now 10 points out of the top three teams. So far, among all the pool teams, Mike has seen a good number of skater games, as his team is tied for 4th in games played with 32, thus far.
