Word out of the camp of the Blue Jackets is that forward Cam Atkinson will not draw in against the Los Angeles Kings. It sounds like Atkinson suffered a facial laceration in the team's last outing and the swelling around one of his eyes is too great for him to see out of, so it will be a night off for the speedy little forward. He will be considered day-to-day for right now.
Atkinson belongs to one of the pool's candidates for Basement Dweller in Week Three, Grant K., who only has 14 points this week and Atkinson was one of his two projected games on the final day of the week. All that is left for him is Tyler Toffoli, who the Jackets are squaring off against this afternoon. Grant was tied with Tony for the weekly trailer, but Tony has four projected games on Sunday and could very well move past.
There are five games going on Sunday and the goalie match-ups haven't all been posted yet, but this is what we do know, thanks in large part to the Goalie Post.
In the early afternoon tilt, which goes shortly after this gets published, we should see Semyon Varlamov against Ondrej Pavelec, as the Avs and Jets go really early. Benson can move out of the basement with a Colorado win, while Stacey M. can move closer to the top 10.
We're expecting a big game between Sergei Bobrovsky and Jonathan Quick in LA, also an afternoon start for the Jackets and the Kings. Wilton can jump into 12th with a win from Bob, while Grant S. can share 2nd place with a win from Quick.
Ottawa is in Chicago for Hometown Hockey tonight and Craig Anderson will likely be taking on Scott Darling, making his NHL debut tonight for Chicago. This isn't exactly going to be an easy tap-in for 2 points for Cam, but I would think he's favoured in this one. Cam can keep pace with the money leaders with the win.
Another California battle will hit in the early evening, as the Ducks host the Sharks tonight. No confirmation has been given either way yet, but it is expected to be Frederik Andersen hosting Antti Niemi, which will pit Kristy & Don's number one keeper against Allan's top stopper, in a 1st vs. 7th in the pool match-up.
Finally, in Vancouver, Justin Peters should be playing the back half of back-to-back nights for the Capitals tonight, while Ryan Miller makes his return to the net for the Canucks. Miller makes it two goalies for Grant S. tonight, who could take sole possession of 2nd place with a couple of wins, plus some help from his skaters. Peters, on the other hand, was not taken.
