The Anaheim Ducks announced a number of roster moves on Wednesday afternoon, which included sending goaltender John Gibson down to Norfolk of the AHL. The Ducks noted that they are going to give Gibson some minutes down in the AHL over the weekend and then have him back in Anaheim for Week Three. The Ducks are moving forward with Fredrik Andersen at the moment and with two games staggered well, Friday and Sunday, it means that the young Gibson won't miss much time, where he wasn't likely to play anyways.
For Ryan, it was taking a shot, trying to get the number one minutes in Anaheim, but for now, it doesn't look like it is going to be the case. There is no guarantee that Gibson will get starts upon his return, especially since the Ducks don't play until Wednesday on Week Three after Sunday's game.
Well, my speculation was just that... speculation. Viktor Fasth has been placed on the Injured Reserve for the Oilers and the team has recalled Richard Bachman to take his place as the back-up, behind Ben Scrivens. Fasth was hurt in the game against the Kings on Tuesday night, injuring his groin and leaving the game in the 1st period. Being placed on the IR means that he will miss at least a week of action, but there was no mention of anything major, so it could just be the minimum amount of time being missed.
This means that the projected games for Fasth are removed from Stacey C.'s total for the week to 23 games, which is the lowest in the pool, going into Wednesday's action. Stacey has yet to register a point in Week Two and now has the least amount of games to be played, so it's been a less-than-positive week thus far.
