Sounds like Anton Khudobin will get the call on Thursday night, as the Hurricanes will take on the Rangers at Madison Square Gardens. Khudobin has made one start already this year, but behind a horrible Carolina team, he didn't pick up the win. On the flip side, Cam Ward has made two starts, both winless. Carolina is trying to find something that will help them pull off their first win of the season, which could have an impact on the pool.
This is another start for Ryan in the pool, who just saw his other goalie head down to the minors for the weekend, but his team has moved out of the basement, by virtue of tie-breakers, so there is a positive there.
Tonight on Long Island, it sounds like the San Jose Sharks will go with their backup, Alex Stalock, for their game against the Islanders. Stalock has had one start already this year, earning a shutout and 4 points in the pool, but with Antti Niemi rolling as well, the Sharks are going to keep rolling with the regular goaltender schedule, between starter and backup.
This is good news for Scott, as his team is among those with 25 points and in need of some ice-time for his players. Stalock has been good for him so far, why not again now?
It sounds like Joffrey Lupul of the Toronto Maple Leafs is going to sit out for some time, as he deals with a lower-body injury, something that the coaching staff believes he tweaked in the team's last outing. There is no real timetable for Lupul and his new injury, but the injury prone forward appears to be doubtful for Friday's contest against the Detroit Red Wings and possibly longer. If the injury really goes South, then there will be a better update on the blog.
In four games this season, Lupul has 2 goals and 1 assist for Brenda in the pool, as her team struggles in 19th place with 24 points. Trying to keep up with the top of the stack may be a bit of a challenge with another injury on the books.
An updated list of injuries can be found here.
