A lower-body injury forced PA Parenteau out of the Habs' final preseason game on Saturday, but the initial word is that the injury is not that bad. It sounds like it is much of the same... taken out for precautionary measures and all of that nonsense. With the beginning of the season only days away, there is no need to risk any bodies.
It doesn't sound like Allan will have to consider another drop in this case, I think Parenteau should be okay to start the season with the Canadiens.
The Blue Jackets will start the season with a number of players on the Injured Reserve, including defenseman Ryan Murray, who hasn't been able to re-join the team from off-season knee surgery. Murray has been skating, but hasn't been able to practice at full speed, so the Jackets will use this time to try out a different defender at the start of the season, while they wait for Murray to get to 100%.
Since his injury was previous to the hockey pool draft, he is ineligible for the preseason waivers. Ryan has already used one of his waiver picks already, but won't be allowed to use another one here. Murray shouldn't be too far away from game action, but the Jackets just want to have all their basis' covered.
