The history of Jeff Skinner and concussions have indeed gotten the best of him, as the Carolina Hurricanes have announced that Skinner has indeed suffered a concussion from his hit in yesterday's preseason game, but they offered no timetable for his return.
The team did say that he would be going through the league's concussion protocol and that he would be closely monitored. NHL protocol does dictate that Skinner be out for a week from when the injury was suffered, so that would make him eligible around Sunday, but that would need clearance from doctors and passing all of the appropriate tests.
Skinner's concussion history will likely work against him, especially since he suffered some doozies in 2012 & 2013 seasons and an upper-body injury last season, which was believed to be a concussion as well. Combined, 32 games were missed by those injuries, so there is a real concern there. He does seem to bounce back from these concussions, but this really does lessen his value in the hockey pool markets.
Allan has another decision to make, as it sounds like Skinner will be on the shelf for a little while, at the very least and always seems to have a chance at getting hurt again.
