On Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning were without defenseman Matt Carle for their game against the Colorado Avalanche, a 3-2 win, to an undisclosed injury. On Monday, Carle went and saw a specialist about his injury and the word came back that he will be on the shelf for the next 6-to-8 weeks, after he undergoes surgery on his abdominal area, repairing a muscle tear.
Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday and that will put him out until the middle-to-end of March.
Carle hasn't been overly productive for the Lightning this season, only picking up 4 goals and 14 points in 46 games played this year, which has him ranked 324th overall in pool scoring.
You likely couldn't tell that Grant S. wasn't getting much production from some players, as his team has done well to float in 2nd place for much of the season. This, however, is the third player that is currently on the Injured Reserve for Grant, so the missing games are starting to add up. Fortunately for him, the rest of his scoring players have seemingly increased their scoring pace and kept him well afloat in 2nd place.
Grant's lead after Monday's afternoon game was set to 44 points, leading both Wes and Cam, and 45 points to Clayton.
