On Friday's notes post, it was mentioned that Chicago forward Kris Versteeg suffered a hand injury, blocking a shot at the Winter Classic. Well, word came down this weekend that the injury will likely cost him upwards of a month, likely being a broken bone or bones. The good news is that Versteeg doesn't require surgery on his injured hand, so it will be waiting for it to heal on its own.
This season, Versteeg has been better than anticipated, picking up 9 goals and 18 assists in 34 games this year, which had him ranked 79th overall in pool scoring, heading into Sunday's action. Missing out on a month's worth of games will definitely hurt his ranking, but he's still in good shape to be a good player overall.
In the pool, he belongs to Stacey C., after he took him 5th overall in the Waiver Draft this year. No one really saw Versteeg coming at the beginning of the year, which made him available for the first switch of the season. Since the Waiver Draft, Stacey has picked up 5 points from the Blackhawks winger, but that's where it'll end for a few weeks.
Stacey has also had one of the best results from the Waiver Draft, ranking 3rd in point differential in players picked to those dropped, with a +10 result, and has gone from 18th in Week Nine to 15th, going into Sunday's action.
