A familiar name is back on the blog on Friday morning, as Joffrey Lupul was placed on the Injured Reserve, yet again, for a lower-body injury he suffered on Wednesday night. Lupul was reported to be heading back to Toronto, as the team continued on to Minnesota, for an MRI and there were reports that he was seen leaving the building in Boston on crutches.
The early word from Maple Leafs camp on Friday is that Lupul is projected to miss the next couple weeks worth of action, which isn't too bad, given the details that were provided already. There is still no description of the injury he suffered, so we'll wait and see if anything leaks out.
The 2010 addition to the Injury Prone List has already seen a broken hand in this 2015 season and he is well on his way to representing the injury prone alike with this stellar season of injury problems.
In only 26 games played this season, Lupul does have 9 goals and 8 assists and is ranked 206th overall in pool scoring, but +Brenda and Seward had grander designs for him this year, taking him in the 8th round, 165th overall in the draft. It looks like the risk versus reward of this pick is weighing heavily to the "oops" side of the argument. I would imagine that Lupul's ranking will continue to drop off in his time away from the team.
