Monday night's game between Tampa Bay and Philadelphia was awfully costly for the Lightning, as they lost the services of two key components of their team, just ahead of another big Eastern Conference match-up, Tuesday night against the Bruins. Forward (and leading scorer) Tyler Johnson and defenseman Victor Hedman are both expected to be in the press box tonight, as they nurse lower-body injuries suffered the night before. According to the coaching staff, both players are considered day-to-day, but there was nothing concrete on expected return dates. This loss really favours the Bruins, as they are really big pieces to the Lightning success this year.
Johnson belongs to Brian, who sits in 17th spot after Monday night, 26 points out of the top 10, while Hedman belongs to Tony, who dropped to 7th place after Monday night. Remarkably, both teams are tied for points in the second segment of the season, both with 109 points, 55 points back of the lead in that regard.
Another 10 games in the NHL schedule on Tuesday night, which means 20 goalies on the ice, but it doesn't look like we'll have all of them as pool goalies tonight.
By the early count, dropped goalies Anton Khudobin (Carolina) and Eddie Lack (Vancouver) will go and yet to be picked goalies Calvin Pickard (Colorado) and Petr Mrazek (Detroit) will also go.
The two teams left in the unofficial survivor pool each have goalies going tonight, as Kristy & Don see Pekka Rinne going for Nashville versus Vancouver and Brenda & Seward have Ben Scrivens for Edmonton going against St. Louis, not to mention Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers taking on the Islanders.
The early Mover & Shaker this week, Wyllie, who has moved out of the basement already, will have Michal Neuvirth going for Buffalo against the Red Wings.
Other notable starters on Tuesday night... Devan Dubnyk gets the call for the Coyotes against the Sharks, Jake Allen goes for the Blues against the Oilers, Robin Lehner straps them on for the Senators against the Stars and Michael Hutchinson goes for Winnipeg, who hosts Florida.
