The Columbus Blue Jackets will be going into the All-Star break holding their breath, as they await word on the injury to their number one goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky. The 26-year old keeper wasn't able to finish Wednesday night's game against the Winnipeg Jets, injuring his lower-body on the right side, unable to put any weight on his right leg after making a save while doing the splits. Bobrovsky will undergo an MRI today and we will likely know more in the next day or so.
Needless to say, Bobrovsky won't be going to the All-Star Game this weekend, which will remove Wilton's only entry for points in the game. He'll be keeping his fingers crossed that an injury replacement has his name on it, although right now, it doesn't seem very likely.
Reports out of Pittsburgh are saying that Evgeni Malkin is now expected to miss the All-Star weekend with an undisclosed injury, something that he suffered the night before in Philadelphia. Malkin was a late scratch to Wednesday night's game against the Blackhawks, taking the pregame warm-up beforehand, but calling it quits, just before puck drop. There is no word on what the injury is or how long they expect him to be out, but it looks like his week is now done.
Malkin's absence now leaves Leo with only one player on the All-Star roster, defenseman Brent Seabrook, who was voted as a starter for the game this weekend. Leo is definitely hoping that the weekend will heal all that ails his 1st round pick, as Malkin may be one of the few players that could keep Leo out of the basement.
