Training Camp Roster in Nashville

I finally found a pre-season/training camp roster for the Nashville Predators in my search for all of this semi-useful information. It also looks like they have combined their youth roster with their main camp roster as well for now, so we get to look at everyone who gets to play. At first glance, I'm pretty impressed with what the Predators have been stockpiling these days.

Just from the Summer roster that I have had posted, the Predators were pretty impressive, but once you dig a little bit deeper, some of those prospects that they have on their roster might be making some thought-to-be-roster players nervous.  The bubble could be quite big in Nashville and it may only be one or two mis-steps before they find their way to the minors.

Of course, the real race that I'm paying attention to is who will come out on top as the back-up to Pekka Rinne to start the year  I want to fill the remainder of my Selection Sheet pool and will need this valuable piece of information.  There is a good chance that this goalie will be of good quality and possibly one to look out for in the draft.

Salary CapNo buyouts or penalties for the Predators going into training camp, which just leaves the top end roster to consider when doing their annual cap calculation.  Right now, I have 13 forwards, seven defense and only one goalie on their top roster, which is by no means set, and they come in at an annual cap hit of $46.8 million, $3.4 million over the floor and safe.  When you tally in another goaltender, the Predators should be well into $47 million and that should be all they need to go into the season with, possibly carrying another player just for roster support.

Looking at this team, it would almost be easier to pick out the players that I think are actually safe going through camp, rather than finding the ones who are not.  Rinne, Weber and Suter are the only three that I think are absolute locks at the moment in the back.  Lombardi, Hornqvist, Sullivan, Legwand, Erat, Dumont and Tootoo up front, but that's just being skeptical.  The Predators are not as deep up front as they are in the back, thinking that Blum, Ellis and Sulzer might get a good look in camp and might push some others out.  Very interesting camp ahead, I'm thinking.
