Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 15)

The Colorado Avalanche had to recall Spencer Martin from the AHL on Wednesday, ahead of their game against the Flyers, meaning that Semyon Varlamov was unable to go. The Avalanche number one was sidelined with a groin injury, which handed the start over to Calvin Pickard.  Varlamov is listed as out day-to-day, unsure of how long he could be out.

Kristy & Don missed out on a start here and they could miss out on some more.  It's a good thing they're not playing for points anymore and concentrating on the penalty minutes.  They weren't missing out on any minutes with Varlamov being out, he doesn't have any this year.

It's somewhat unclear on how the Tampa Bay Lightning walked away with a 6-3 win over the Calgary Flames, since they were without one of their key forwards before the game and lost another one in the 2nd period.  Nikita Kucherov was held out of the game with an undisclosed injury, listed as out day-to-day, while they lost Ondrej Palat in the game, also due to an undisclosed injury.  The Tampa Bay Lightning are in playoff form, in terms of injury related news releases.

Brian could be in a spot of trouble, if Kucherov is out for any sort of length of time.  His team relinquished 2nd place to Scott last night, but is only 1 point back at the moment.  Dale picked up Palat at the draft, but he hasn't quite panned out as well, as his team is in 23rd.
