The Detroit Red Wings have activated goaltender Jimmy Howard from the Injured Reserve on Wednesday and sent down both goaltender Jared Coreau and forward Tomas Nosek to the AHL, relieving themselves of some of the cap burden. This likely means that Howard is pretty close to returning to the crease from his groin injury. He will have a couple days of proper practice, as the Red Wings don't play again until Friday.
This is big news for Benson, as he continues to defend 1st place in the standings. His lead remains at 7 points and now he has both of his goalies back on the right side of the injured ledger.
The Washington Capitals are also expecting to get a body back in their lineup, as soon as tonight, as T.J. Oshie has been cleared by the team doctors to return from his shoulder injury. This will be a much appreciated boost to their offense, especially with Oshie's scoring rate getting reinserted into the lineup. He left the team with 12 points in 17 games.
Also great news for Marcie, who has definitely missed Oshie from her active lineup. When the scoring forward left the lineup, Marcie's team was 8th and 17 points back of the money and since, her team has dropped to 13th, but still 17 points back. Her team has managed to keep some kind of pace, but the teams around hers have picked up their pace.
