The Montreal Canadiens are expecting to have defenseman Nathan Beaulieu back in their lineup tonight, when they take on the Devils tonight at the Bell Centre. The 24-year old defender has been out since November 22nd with a lower-body injury and has been on the IR in that time, but it sounds like he's been given the all clear to resume play. In 20 games, Beaulieu has 1 goal and 6 points, so he has been somewhat productive when healthy.
This is good news for Cam, who didn't move him at the Waiver Draft, who is in the mix for the money, sitting only 3 points back of 3rd place in 5th place. Beaulieu might not be the tipping point in this race, but he certainly won't hurt it.
The New York Rangers are expected to be without forward Rick Nash for the next week or so, dealing with a lower-body injury, believed to be a groin injury. Nash was hurt in Tuesday night's game against the Islanders, leaving in the 2nd period and not returning.
Marcin has been dealing with a stroke of bad luck recently, which has a direct correlation with his team dropping out of the money this week. His team is only 1 point behind the new team occupying 3rd place, belonging to John S., but the loss of Nash will hurt, undoubtedly. Nash's 18 points in 27 games is a decent enough scoring pace, that will leave a hole for the next seven days.
