With Sami Salo (John B.) out of the line-up indefinitely with his wrist injury, the Canucks were able to keep 24 players going into the last week of preparation before Friday's game against San Jose. In Salo's absence, it will likely be Alex Edler who steps up and fills the role, but a slip could see Nathan McIver step in and fill the gap after he had a very productive preseason.Up front, it will likely be that rookie, Mason Raymond, will step into the role with the twins to start the season. Raymond had one hell of a camp and worked his way onto the 23-man (or 24) roster to start the season. He could end up being a bit of a sleeper if the gamble pays off.
| Daniel Sedin | Henrik Sedin | Markus Naslund |
| Matt Cooke | Brendan Morrison | Taylor Pyatt |
| Byron Ritchie | Ryan Kesler | Trevor Linden |
| Jeff Cowan | Ryan Shannon | Alexandre Burrows |
| Brad Isbister | Mason Raymond |
| Kevin Bieksa | Sami Salo |
| Mattias Ohlund | Lukas Krajicek |
| Willie Mitchell | Aaron Miller |
| Alexander Edler | Nathan McIver |
| Roberto Luongo |
| Curtis Sanford |
Even at a 24-man roster, the Canucks salary cap number is well below the max. They are approximately sitting at $46.5 million against the cap, which leaves them plenty of room for a high-profile free agent come the end of the year, if need be.
