A minor deal for depth on Friday, as the New York Rangers sent veteran checking forward Erik Christensen and a draft pick to the Minnesota Wild for prospect forward Casey Wellman.

On the surface, this deal looks to be the Rangers acquiring a little bit more youth in a player that just couldn't quite crack the Wild roster on a full-time basis for a player that wasn't cracking the Rangers line-up on a regular basis and a pick to even out the deal.  The Wild do get a little bit more experienced in their bottom six, but it isn't like they didn't have a great deal of experience to begin with.

The deal does see a selection sheet player, Wellman, moved from place to place, but this isn't an important move, as no one experimented with Wellman in their line-up and I don't think any one is going to make that move to pick him up, even now.

Neither player are draft worthy.
