Not much luck for Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow, who has been dealing with neck and back problems this season. Morrow just recently returned from a stint on the Injured Reserve with his upper-body ailments, played in two games, but that didn't seem to work out for him, as the injuries have been re-aggravated and the team has now placed him back on the IR, retroactively to Thursday, the 2nd.
There doesn't appear to be a timeline for his return and there has been nothing to suggest that the injury is considered minor or major, so it is really hard to gauge his participation through the back-third of the season.
Non-pool player Tomas Vincour has been recalled from the AHL to fill in his spot on the roster.
With action already underway on Saturday morning, Brendan Morrow ranked 234th overall in pool scoring with 8 goals and 14 assists in 43 games this year, a shade over half a point-per-game on his scoring rate. It has been somewhat of a disappointing season for Morrow and the Stars, that had to battle through all kinds of injuries and question marks and that has really hindered most player's productions on the squad. It's hard to hold this season against him, but on the surface, you might have to going forward.
In the draft, Morrow was taken in the 10th round by Benson G., 205th overall, and likely without the games being missed already, he would probably be on pace to be good enough to keep up with his draft location. Unfortunately, that will not be the case and it is seemingly unlikely that he will be able to return in time to make up for the loss in games played with some scoring. I don't suppose we can count him out complete.
Benson is seemingly healthy, other than Morrow, so I would think there could be a move made to ship Morrow out and get some man-games starting next week.
