Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 23)

A freak accident in practice saw St. Louis forward Jaden Schwartz leave the ice with a lower-body injury, something the team had checked out in the hospital today. No specific update was given on the condition of the scoring forward, but they expect to have one for tomorrow's morning skate, before they take on the New York Islanders at home.

For now, Schwartz will be considered to be day-to-day, but the expectation is that the injury news will be much worse, which doesn't bode well for Clayton's pool team. His side is already down a goalie (down in the minors) and a long-term injury will likely keep him from retaining his spot in 10th place.

In Calgary, it appears that Brad Richards won't dress for the Red Wings, ahead of their game against the Flames on Friday night. The is saying that it is a lower-body issue as well and it has been suggested in some reports that it could be a back issue. His status for tonight is doubtful and his status for Saturday's game in Vancouver is also in doubt.  His status will remain day-to-day for the time being.

Stacey M.'s team is back in the top 10 again and it's a tight race up there, so not having all your players could be a hindrance to staying there.  Her team goes into Friday's action in 7th place, 15 points back of 1st place.
