Goalie Announcements (Oct 24)

Both Allan and Grant had their goalies qualify for Week Four on Friday night, which leaves only five teams left to do the deed on Saturday night and it is going to be a busy night, so we'll see how many of these five teams get the chance to get that win.

Scott, Kristy & Don, Clayton, Eric and Mike are all looking for wins tonight and for some, Saturday night will be their last chance at qualifying.

After having a look at the projected goalies from goaliepost.com, three out of the five teams have goalies in the starters net, while the other two are not in great shape.

We'll start with the potential survivors tonight and it begins with Kristy & Don, who have two kicks at the can tonight, the only team to have that luxury.  It is expected that Roberto Luongo will get the nod for the Florida Panthers in Dallas, as they take on Kari Lehtonen (Dale C.) and the Stars tonight.  That will be a tough match-up for Luongo, but if there is any goalie to excel against a high-powered offense, it's him.  If that doesn't go very well, they can look to Semyon Varlamov and the Avalanche, as they host Sergei Bobrovsky (Troy) and the Blue Jackets.  The winless Jackets are going to make that tough on the Avalanche tonight, so it isn't a sure thing, by any means.

Clayton's last shot at qualifying comes tonight, as Ryan Miller should be in the Vancouver Canucks net again tonight, as they play host to Petr Mrazek (Tony) and the Detroit Red Wings.  Detroit looks to bounce back from an overtime loss the night before in Calgary, while the Canucks also dropped their last game against the Capitals.

The last of the three teams looking to qualify tonight is Scott, who has Martin Jones back in net for the San Jose Sharks, as they are playing host to the road weary Carolina Hurricanes, where it is expected that Eddie Lack (Jeremy) will get the start tonight.  This match-up on paper looks great for San Jose, but you can't rule out the Canes, who can wait in the weeds for a sleepy opponent.

For the two teams still looking to qualify without starters tonight, Eric will have one of his goalies on the bench as a back-up tonight, as Scott Darling will be behind Corey Crawford (Stuart) with the Blackhawks hosting the Lightning, while Thomas Greiss has somehow become the odd-man out on Long Island and he'll be in the press box behind J-F Berube, who is backing up Jaroslav Halak (Dale B.) tonight.

In Mike's case, with the injury to Andrei Vasilevskiy, he's only left with Michael Hutchinson in Winnipeg, who does play on Sunday, but we don't know who the starter is.

For those looking to scout some more goaltending for the Waiver Draft, Anders Lindback is starting for the Coyotes, Linus Ullmark is getting a start with the Buffalo Sabres and Kristers Gudlevskis is getting a start with the Lightning.  Just a heads up.
