Goalie Announcements (Oct 23)

Only one team joined the ranks of the Week Four teams on Thursday night and Friday night will be a limited opportunity for some to get the job done, with only three nights to go in the week.

There are six games in the NHL on Friday night, which means 12 goalies getting starts.  It appears to be a good night for goalies not taken in the pool tonight, as there are at least a couple of goalies going tonight without pool affiliation.  Something to look at for when the Waiver Draft rolls around, anyways.

Only two goalies appear to be in to qualify their pool teams for Week Four, making this a fairly light post.  Ben Bishop will give Allan another shot at earning his way into next week, as Tampa Bay takes on Winnipeg at the MTS Centre tonight.  He'll likely go up against Ondrej Pavelec (Stuart) on the other side.  With Bishop going tonight, it will be interesting to see if they go with him again, if they drop tonight's game against the Jets, because that would be Allan's only other chance for a win.

In the other notable game, Grant will have Jonas Hiller going for the Calgary Flames tonight, as they take on Jimmy Howard (Stacey M.) and the Detroit Red Wings.  If Grant doesn't get his win here, he should have one more opportunity, at least, maybe two, to make it through to next week.

After the goalie survivor pool, other notable starts include Cam Ward, taking to the Hurricanes net again for our pool leader, Neil.  He'll be taking on Jonathan Quick (Brenda & Seward) and the Kings in Los Angeles, on Carolina's current California swing.

Non pool goalies going tonight include Mike Condon of the Montreal Canadiens, getting the start ahead of the weekend against Chad Johnson (John P.) and the Buffalo Sabres, while Philipp Grubauer will get his first start of the season for the Washington Capitals, as they head up to Edmonton to take on Cam Talbot (Brian) and the Edmonton Oilers.
