Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 10)

The season is just underway and teams are still trying to feel their way to what they want as their lineup going forward, certainly one of the reasons why defenseman David Rundblad was a healthy scratch on Friday night, as the Blackhawks took on the Islanders. He also may have been identified as one of the players that may have shouldered some of the blame for the team's opening night loss to the Rangers.

Blame aside, he was held pointless in game one and with the Chicago win, Eric might be out of luck for the foreseeable future. With the new scratches on Friday night, that meant that Viktor Tikhonov was able to make his season debut for the Hawks, which was good news for Grant, even though he didn't register a point.

The Detroit Red Wings also had a healthy scratch of their own on Friday night, as forward Tomas Jurco was among those in the press box for their game against the Maple Leafs and they didn't really miss him from their offense, as the Wings gave the Leafs a solid 4-0 beating.

Well, I'm sure Stuart thought that Jurco would be a regular with the Red Wings this year, but all this could be is a minor hiccup in his season.  Jurco is destined to find time on the ice with the big club, it's just a matter of when.  Stuart finished the night in 7th place, 5 points out of 1st place.
