Evening Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 15)

Plain and simple, the Pittsburgh Penguins went into Thursday night without much for offense.  This team was supposed to be an offensive juggernaut going into the year.  Who saw that coming?  In some lineup shifting, rookie forward Sergei Plotnikov was one of the guys moved out of the lineup for a recent call-up, Bryan Rust, trying to spark something in the team tonight against the Ottawa Senators.  Plotnikov, day-to-day as a healthy scratch.

The draft was a rude start for John R., who was taken aback by the ferocity of the picks of goalies and defensemen, but thought that he would sneak a cool rookie into the mix, trying to make up some of those points he may not have picked up from some other big players.  It hasn't happened quite yet, but maybe this healthy scratch acts as a kick in the ass for his rookie newcomer.

In injury news tonight, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced shortly before puck drop that forward Alex Killorn would be out of the lineup tonight, he's currently day-to-day with an upper-body injury. There is some speculation out there that he is dealing with a shoulder problem, but we'll stick with the official team word for the time being.

This has been a rough start to the year for Tony, who hasn't had the greatest amount of luck with his team's health, as he (at the time of this post) ranks 24th in the pool in skater games played and it was another one lost tonight with this injury.  There's no word whether or not he'll be back for the weekend.
