The first of three games this week for the Washington Capitals begins with the visiting Vancouver Canucks and at the morning skate, the signs were alluding to Philipp Grubauer getting the start tonight, which is a little bit of a head scratcher, considering that the Capitals will be playing back-to-back, Thursday and Friday. The Canucks walloped the Capitals, 6-2, back in October, when they had a full squad, but Jacob Markstrom won't have that luxury this time around, but maybe that result was taken into consideration for this start.
Tonight is the first of two possible starts for Andrei Vasilevskiy this week and he will indeed take to the Tampa Bay net tonight with their division rivals from Carolina in town. The Hurricanes are likely going back to Cam Ward, as he has taken the job back from Scott Darling this season and the Hurricanes are on the cusp of a playoff spot, so they need to be doing all they can to win and make it in. The last meeting between the two sides was also back in October, where the Lightning easily took the game, 5-1.
