Ehlers to Miss Six Weeks

A jarring open-ice hit from Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby has now knocked out Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers out of active duty for the next several weeks.  Ehlers suffered an upper-body injury in the collision and now the team has announced that they do not expect him back in action until the middle of February.

The hit was in Friday night's game, early on in the contest, and the announcement that he would be missing about six weeks worth of action came on Saturday, making some quick turnover in the injury update world.  It's bad news for the Jets, who are already down Dustin Byfuglien as well.

The Dane has 15 goals and 27 points in 40 games this season, ranking 127th in overall scoring, in the middle of the schedule on Sunday night, so it's a big portion of offense that is coming out for a while.  The Jets didn't seem to miss him too much on Sunday afternoon, beating Dallas, 5-1, getting a well-rounded effort from their roster.

Eric's team has been very up and down in the last month or so, either up in the ranks for the Mover & Shaker one week and down among the dwellers the next week.  His roster's inconsistency has really kept his team down, currently ranking 21st overall, despite having a really good week this week, up at 35 points with one skater game to go on Sunday.
