Goalie Announcements (Jan 21)

It's All-Star week in the NHL, coupled with bye weeks for the Metropolitan Division, so the games are very limited this week and there won't be a ton of action or points for that matter. 15 games in total, Monday through Wednesday, starting with four games today, three with early starts thanks to it being Martin Luther King Day in the US.

These early starts are a killer in a new week, so there is a lot of extra guessing today.  Here's hoping it doesn't look too bad.

Pekka Rinne (John P.) versus Semyon Varlamov (Wilton)
Nothing confirmed at this time for the early, early game between the Predators and the Avalanche.  With the relaxed schedule and the All-Star break coming up, one would think it would be the number ones today, but those tricky afternoon games are usually really good for the backups, saving the big guys from those afternoon injuries.

Jake Allen (Steve) versus Jonathan Quick (Derek B.)
Same thing in Los Angeles... the Blues and the Kings get a start an hour after the game in Denver, so it's our best guess here too.  We're hopeful that it will be pool starts, like you see above, as the number two guys for each team have not been picked in the pool.  Let's get those participation numbers up in the weekly stats!

Devan Dubnyk (Wes) versus Marc-Andre Fleury (Troy)
Both the Wild and the Golden Knights are not afraid to run their number one guys ragged, so this expectation seems legit today, when the 4pm MT game faces off.  Both teams are playing some pretty decent of late, Vegas playing a little hotter, but both are pretty competitive.  This should make for a pretty good game.

Martin Jones (Brenda & Seward) versus Roberto Luongo (John P.)
The late game tonight (5pm MT), features the Sharks and the Panthers to round out the action.  Roberto Luongo was tapped  for the home team good and early this morning and he's the only one that has any confirmation this early in the day.  So, there's a fine chance that John P. will get two starts today, if the projections mean anything... errr, I mean guesses.  Good news for his team, which is looking to improve upon its 16th place standing.  Since this game isn't considered late in Florida, I would expect to see Martin Jones on the other end, but again... not confirmed.
