Goalie Announcements (Jan 9)

It's going to be a quiet night tonight, as there are only three games on Wednesday, but that's okay.  We're picking up points at a fairly reasonable pace and that's despite seeing more and more goalies, not selected in the pool, getting starts these days and tonight will be no different.

Wes' team continues rack up the points, as his team is already up to 18 points this week, looking for back-to-back Mover & Shaker nods.  Jesse's team is also rolling quite well, sitting at 15 points, while Stuart, Clayton and Dale C. are all at 12 points.  Stacey M. is the only other team in the double-digits, up at 10 points and still lots of hockey to be played this week.

Down at the bottom of the standings, Benson's team hasn't been in many Basement Dweller conversations, but his team has only picked up 3 points through two nights and currently leads the way this week.  Neil and Scott both have 4 points, Wilton and Stacey C. are at 5 points and then there are six teams at 6 points.  There's still a lot of play left in the bottom portion of the standings, so these teams better get points while the getting is good.

Pekka Rinne (John P.) versus Collin Delia (N/A)
The NBCSN rivalry game tonight is between Nashville and Chicago and the Predators have not confirmed their goalie, at the time of the post, so we can't tell you if it is John P. getting the start or Eric's team getting the start.  Either way, neither are in danger of being at the bottom of the weekly standings right now, but I'm sure they'd want to be in the conversation for the Mover & Shaker tomorrow at around this time.

Semyon Varlamov (Wilton) versus David Rittich (Ryan)
The Avalanche and Flames will tangle in Calgary tonight and it will feature a number of the top NHL scorers, which may not bode well for the goalies tonight.  Ryan has been confirmed to be getting a start from David Rittich, while the Avalanche are playing the second half of back-to-backs and it sounds like Semyon Varlamov will make his first start, returning from injury, certainly a plus for Wilton's team.  Ryan's team is at 6 points and Wilton's team is at 5 points this week, a win will take them one step further from the basement.

Anders Nilsson (N/A) versus John Gibson (Kristy & Don)
Finally, the Senators and the Ducks will meet on the pond in Anaheim tonight and the Senators have confirmed their non-pool goalie, while the Ducks haven't said one way or the other.  They're still fighting for a playoff spot in the Pacific, so they will be looking to scoop these 2 points, which leads me to believe John Gibson would be the keeper tonight, but again... unconfirmed.
